I was chatting with a friend who I will leave unnamed and the conversation of older young single adults came up. So I decided to do some research. I know right, I am a bit boring, but don't act like you don't secretly like it. So here are a few stats. I had to put the lightning stat in just because of that line in sleepless in Seattle (I think it's from this movie) about women being more likely to get hit by lightning than to get married after a certain age.*According to the U.S. National Weather Service, the odds of being struck by lightning -- in your lifetime -- are 1 in 5,000.
*Overall, the Mormon divorce rate appears to be no different from the average American divorce rate. A 1999 study by Barna Research of nearly 4,000 U.S. adults showed that 24% of Mormon marriages end in divorce -- a number statistically equal to the divorce rate among all Americans. About 26% of both Mormons and non-Mormons had experienced at least one divorce at some time during their life. So in case you think these numbers don't match up you are reading it wrong. That's at least one divorce when you factor in multiple divorces the average goes up to around 50%.

*An article predicted that women after 30 only had a 20 percent chance of getting married. For women over 40, those chances plummeted to 2.6 percent. Interesting, very interesting.
*In the bad old days — alas, as recently as the 1980s — a woman with a graduate degree was 16% less likely to be married by age 44 than a woman with a high school diploma. Now, while 55% of women with graduate degrees marry by age 29 vs. 61% of other women, after 30, the odds reverse. A single, 30-year-old woman with a graduate degree has about a 75% chance
*Odds of winning the powerball are 1 in 146,107,962.00.

crazy how we are going through the same things in cities miles apart. Boys are the same no matter where you go, they will always be idiots!
Thanks for putting it all into perspective! And I think the lightning quote came from the new Sis. Oaks. Remember it was her 40th (or 50th?) birthday and her brother said he read in the paper that day that a woman her age had a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting married. But then she married an apostle so I think it was probably worth the wait!
