2 month

Well it happened, he is now 2 months old. I can hardly believe he's been here this long. It's been the hardest, longest, most exhausting, joyous, gratifying 2 months of my life. While he has brought many tears he has brought even more smiles. My life will never be the same again and I don't want it to be. I love this little man a lot. He has gotten so big! I wish he'd smile more for the camera. As soon as I get it out he stops. He gets his serious face. It's crazy how much he has changed since he was born. His 2 month check up is Feb 3, so I'll put all his stats up then. I'm sure the dr will tell us how big he is. That is the sentence we hear most, "he's so big".

Tummy Time

He does not love his tummy time!

Our Future Heartbreaker

January 23, 2012 Big smiles for mommy.
He loves kicking those little legs.

He's also pretty in love with our ceiling fan.

How can you not want to kiss those cheeks!

7 weeks

Here's are little guy at 7 weeks, January 18th. And by little I mean huge. I don't think we'll be putting overalls on him any more. He is a chunky monkey.
Such a big smile. He is so dang adorable.

But mostly we get this face. He is a pretty stoic child. I love kissing those cheeks.

Pictures of Elijah's Nursery

I'm not sure if anyone remembers the mobile I made with the sock monkeys and ribbon, but I made this cute garland to match it. Different sock monkeys but similar ribbon. I think it turned out super cute.
I really like how it turned out. Renee found the sock monkey Christmas ornaments clearanced at JC Penny's for $1. She got me a few and I went back and bought more.

Wall with his dresser/changing table.

Amy's mom, Ginger, made this super cute wall hanging. I am so in love with it. I am grateful she was willing to share her talent with me and Elijah.

Another view. Note the cute sock monkey quilt on side of the crib. Ginger made it too.

View of the crib. I really like how it all turned out. Beside his crib is a basket of all his toys. And he has a lot of toys already.

bath time

I've been trying to get our little (big) guy into a night time routine. So far it hasn't worked out. We start off with bath time which he loves. Most of the time it calms him right down if he is a little fussy.
He likes his bath water pretty warm. Most of the time he throws one of his legs over the side of his little lounger.

His daddy got him this super cute shark towel. It's still big for him but he's so dang cute in it.

After we get him dressed we give him a bottle. And while he drinks it, I read him a book. We love that boy.

It's True

I know it is true, I am a very lucky girl. And I realized recently just how lucky I am. Brent and I were both exhausted. Elijah has been having some rough days and while Brent was only home to help in the evenings I know how busy he is with school and studying for boards. But he still as exhausted as he is will still wake up and help me with Elijah. He really is all these things to me and so much more as well.

He is the kindest, most patient person I know. And he has to be both of those things living with me and Elijah. Even though I think Elijah may be breaking him a little. He might have said, very seriously, that he really doesn't know if he ever wants to have more kids. He was more serious than I liked. But this too shall pass.I'm glad I get to spend my eternity with Brent. He is not only all of these things to be but he is also my best friend and the one person I refuse to spend eternity without.

6 Weeks

Elijah is 6 weeks old today and to be honest I have a hard time remembering life before him. He really is a joy to have, even when he is being a crank pants. He has taught me a lot about myself and about motherhood.
At 6 weeks he is:
* holding his head up very well.

* learning to socially smile. It's a rare occurrence but it's so sweet when he does.

* he is talking a lot more. Lots of cooing and also a lot of complaining.

* has started a bed time routine. So far it does not end in sleep.

* eats 4 ounces every 3 hours. And sometimes we don't make it all three hrs. He thinks he is constantly hungry.

* he weighs around 13 pounds. (Weight taken with me on the scale minus my weight, so not exactly accurate but close).

* he is about 24 inches long.

*his longest sleep stretch was 5 hours but that is rare.

* he has already traveled across the USA on a plane to visit his Grammy and Grandpa.
* his eyes haven't changed yet and are still blue.

* he has a very demanding personality.

* and has made his mommy fall even more in love with daddy.

We feel so blessed to have him in our lives. While there have been days where both me and him and have sat and cried overall it has been a wonderful experience. We love our little man.

*soon a California vacation post. I've started it several times but the above mentioned joy has a lot of fussy times so I have a hard time finishing anything.

Cranky pants

So I just need to say I love my little crank pants even if he's been up since 4 this morning and has only slept an hour off and on. It's 11 now. I'm tired, overwhelmed and overly emotional. And when Renee called earlier I mentioned having to let him cry so I could eat breakfast and she jokingly called me a mean mom, it sent me into tear overdrive.
I've wanted to be a mom as long as I remember so each day I'm grateful but it has been a challenge. It's really hard having a baby that you can't console. It breaks my heart when he's screaming so hard he can't breath. I know it gets easier I'm just tired today. Maybe he'll fall asleep soon then I'll nap. Yay, motherhood! I can't wait to have 4 more......I'd pray they weren't colicky but I did pray for it with Elijah and it totally backfired. Guess heavenly Father was teaching me that I can't custom order my babies.

California

Brent and I, very last minute, decided to book flights to California so Elijah could meet the rest of his family. And I'm so glad that we did. I love my inlaws and always enjoy being around them. We don't get to spend a lot of time together since we live in Tennessee and they live in California, so we have to savor the times we do get to be around them.
I was really worried about the flight with a new baby. He's been a bit colicky so I was worried he'd decide to scream the entire flight. I spend a lot of time praying and packing all the things that "might" work to calm him down. I was pleasantly surprised when he was good the entire flight. He slept both flights. When we arrived in Sacramento, Grandpa was waiting at the bottom of the escalator for us. Not only was Elijah excited to meet him, Brent and I were both excited to see him. I love that moment when it's been a while since you've seen someone and you are super excited and then there they are.
I was starving so we stopped at In and Out burger. It's not a trip to California and unless you eat there. Then we made the drive home. Again I was super excited to see everyone at the house and for them to all meet Elijah. And it was just perfect. I loved getting to see all their faces when they first saw him and got to hold him. He was overly tired the first evening which made him very cranky but that was the only day he was super cranky. But things got better from there.

This was Brent's baby blessing outfit. I loved that Jana found it and I was able to take a picture of Elijah in it. I should ask Bryant to scan a picture of Brent on his blessing day and blog them together.

The Adamson's are big BYU fans so for Christmas they got Elijah this cute BYU hat. I think the hat is super cute, even if it is BYU. So he definitely needed to wear it in CA. Him and Grammy look so cute together. He was quite taken with her.

Grandpa spent many hours just like this. When he would try to get Elijah to lay down, he would automatically wake up and grandpa was a sucker and would just hold him longer.

While we were in California, Jana's friends threw a baby shower. They had planned on giving Jana a party before she came here in February but then when they found out we were coming they let us be part of the party. It was so incredibly kind of them. They have really great friends and I always feel welcome around them.

They had a very yummy spread of food. The Brewers provided the food and the Barth's had it in their home. That is the same place we had our CA open house. I might get use to having a party there whenever I'm in CA.

This was the most delicious cake that I've ever tasted! Yum, I kinda wish I had a piece now. Well not really because I still need to lose 50 pounds.

Grammy and Grandpa

Elijah got to meet his Grammy and Grandpa Adamson this past week. It was love at first sight for all. Elijah enjoyed all his cuddle time and I'm next to positive that they enjoyed all the time too. He is very lucky to have them as grandparents. I know because I feel blessed to be part of their family. It was so fun seeing them show him off to their friends. We love you Grammy and Grandpa. And we look forward to your visit next month.
