Almost better

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm feeling much better. I did go back to the Doctor on Monday and he was able to hook me up with some nice medication. I then worked from home on Tuesday and Wednesday. I'm back at school today! Lucky for me it was pajama day so I'm still in my jammies. Don't be jealous, you can work at a school if you want and then you will have all these great advantages. I'm still not 100% well but this is much better than what it was last week.
I'm also feeling extremely grateful today! Do you ever have those days when you are way too excited over everything. A student says something sweet or whatever it may be. I'm grateful for a lot of things. I would write them all now but then I wouldn't have a good Thanksgiving post.

My Brothers & Sisters!

Renee’ has always been someone that I admire. That is not to say that at times I haven’t hated her, but for the most part she has been the ideal big sister. Renee’ would best be described as a nurturer. Most people that don’t know or that barely know her would disagree but being family I know this from first hand experience. Even when we were kids she was constantly making sure that the rest of were taken care of and staying out of trouble. Something that I find funny is when she was on her mission, I was at school at Ricks, she would send me care packages. I know that she didn’t have very much money and it should have been the other way, I should have been sending them to her, but she still made sure that I got them. She served her mission in Macon, Georgia. Another thing that I admire about her is how knowledgeable she is. I have always seen her as smart both secularly and spiritually. In high school I almost dreaded having the same teachers as her because I didn’t think I could live up to her. Needless to say, I made it through. She knows the gospel and she lives it in her everyday life. She is kind to everyone and makes everyone feel special. Renee’ finds family very important. We were able to be neighbors in Utah. At times I know it drove Jake crazy but it was nice having her there. We really became friends during this time. When she moved to TN when I was in grad school it was very bittersweet. I was glad that she was moving on with her life but I knew how much I would miss her and her family. Since they lived so close to me they have both seen me at some of my happiest times and also my saddest. I cannot even begin to describe what they mean to me. I always try to give Jake a hard time and I like that he does it in return. Renee’ is someone that you could say is a hero; she is definitely one of mine. I am lucky to have her as a big sister but even luckier to have her as a best friend. I'm glad to be close to them again.

Michael is definitely what you would call a big brother. He is tough and mean and kind and sweet. He tells you exactly the way things are and makes sure that you are doing right. He definitely doesn’t sugarcoat life for you. But these are some of my favorite things about him. The word that I would say that best describes him is protector. In high school one semester I was not lucky enough to have lunch with my friends but I did have it with him. Instead of doing what a lot of older brothers would do, he let me sit with him and his friends. He made sure I felt welcome. While this is something I am sure he wouldn’t think of as a big deal, it meant the world to me at the time. Michael served his mission in Guatemala. When I attended Ricks College, Michael was there my sophomore year. I loved having a big brother around. I enjoyed taking late night walks and he was always nice enough to join me. We would talk about school and life and he always gave me the best advice. Mike married Amy the next year. At first I know that I probably gave her somewhat of a hard time, I always did with his girlfriends but soon I realized this one was here to stay. I had the opportunity to be of her bridesmaids and I loved it. I have always felt a special bond with Michael so to be able to be part of his wedding was super special to me. Some would say I even listen to him more than I should but the truth is I value his opinion. Amy is as honest as Mike is which I admire. She has become just like a sister to me. We are lucky to have her in our family. They both would be among those I count as my friends. Michael has been one of the most significant influences on my life, though I know he doesn’t even realize it.

James is quite the character. Out of the siblings I would say he is the one that got in the most trouble. From when we were younger him playing with snakes, and as we got older him doing silly stuff. The word that would best describe him would be the friend. I know I have said that all my siblings are my friends and that is true but James is a friend to everyone. He is a friend to all people. As I write this I can’t help but to laugh because he is also one of the funniest people. He is the type of person who can turn what most would see as a horrible time into a funny event. Although he is my younger brother I admire so many things about him. He is so charismatic. People fall in love with him. He is such a good brother. As kids he loved Ninja Turtles and I loved Barbies. He would compromise with me and we would play with them together. His Ninja Turtles would rescue my Barbies and then naturally my Barbies would fall madly in love with the Ninja Turtle. James was usually a good sport in the situation. As we got older we did things that we may look back on as foolish. James had his tongue pierced. No one in the family, except Michael, knew about it. Around the same time I had my tongue pierced and hid it as well. As we get older I think we get a little wiser. James served his mission in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a Spanish speaking elder and loved it so much. . I've become friends with James wife, Kara. The first time I met her I knew James would marry her. It is somewhat weird for me to think about my little brother being married. He chose a great woman. I know as we grow older I will learn a lot from James and hope that along the way he may be able to learn something from me. I will always think of him as that little boy who was constantly in trouble, though I know that he has grown into quite the man.

Rebekah, Becky, Beck, Boo, Booboo, Beckyboo are all names that we have called Rebekah. Words to describe her are hard to come by. I have been teasing her that her word that best describes her would be potential and for the sake of keeping true to my word I am going to use that word. While she may think potential is bad I find it a word that truly describes someone as motivated and disciplined as she is. She sees her goals and she goes after them with fierceness that I have rarely seen any others. Becky is one of my best friends. She has been since we were younger. While with others you learn how much you appreciate each other when you are older, me and Beck have always known. We shared a room since we were younger and with a room comes many secrets, dreams, fears, crushes, you name it that room holds it. And that room was shared with her. We have almost always understood each other and rarely pitied the other. Once again that may sound weird but I think me and her both understand what is meant by it. This is both a bad and good thing. It is bad for the fact that we know what most dearly hurts the other and can bring it up. I remember exchanging valentines with her when neither of us had someone else. When she was 2 years old she was ran over by a car and I think that each of us know how lucky we are that she survived because she has added so much to each of our lives. I did say that we were the lucky ones not her. She was always more country than the rest of us girls. She has even killed her own pig and barbequed it, to which I am somewhat jealous. I know without a doubt Becky will accomplish great things. She is destined to greatness. She loves to help others and is good at what she does. Oh just need to throw this in here; she is one of the best cooks especially when it comes to baking. She will make a husband very happy and fat with her cooking skills. Becky has the potential to become anything she chooses to become. Even with this potential she will make the right decisions and choices. I love her dearly and appreciate her more. She will always be someone I know that I can trust and depend on. And so I end with the same thought that I began on, Rebekah has more potential than almost anyone I believe I’ve met.

Charity, Charity, Charity. Charity is the baby of the family. She came 5 years after Beck. She was adored and pampered and was given more attention than some would know what to do with. But not our Charity; she was born for fame. When I say fame I don’t necessarily mean that she is going to be a movie star or someone famous what I mean is no matter where life takes her people will always notice her. She knows how to work people and everyone loves her. James made the comment once that she was the most normal out of all his sisters. She is an eternal optimistic. She's gotten pretty sick in the pastand while most people would have let it get them down, not our Charity. While I know that she is 19 years old, she will always be the baby to all of us. We each spoil her and probably see her as younger than she is. While being considered the baby may have its disadvantages it also has some perks. I love the way she makes me laugh. She is so silly and fun. I think she could brighten up the darkest hour. I also love talking to her on the phone. Most people may think that with our age difference we don’t have a ton in common but they are sadly mistaken. Maybe I act younger but I truly think that since she has been sick she was forced to deal with a lot of grown up stuff. I can understand why when people meet her they are automatically drawn to her. Like I said before, she was born for fame and fame she will have. I love you Charbear. I know she has a lot to offer and I have a lot I can learn from her.

Update

Well I haven't updated in forever and the last update was a tag so.... I don't have anything really interesting to say. I've been sick for the past few weeks, Friday started week 4 of whatever it is I have. I guess I will be going back to the doctor today. I can't kick it and it's making my life less than fun! But even so I still go about life like I am perfectly well. I went on a "date" this past friday night with a really nice guy. I say "date" because I never know if a guy is asking me out on a date or to hang out or whatever. But that is another post. I had fun hanging out with him. We went to dinner with a couple from the singles branch to a Thai restaurant. We then went and watched Poltergeist with a large group of people. He was super fun but I was not. I don't know if it was because I was sick or if I'm just ackward. Saturday night I went to a haunted corn maze with a group from the branch. It was fun but I didn't get scared once. It was fun and I'm glad I went.
So life, other than being sick, is pretty good. It keeps going! This Friday night is the branch Halloween dance so that should be fun. It would probably be better if it wasn't a dance but whatever. I think dances are ackward, not to mention there are like 40 girls and 15 guys. Not that all these people will come but you get my drift.

Here are 6 random things about me. Even though I don't think there is anything random about me.

1. I'm one of the most boring people that I know. My life is super routine. I wake up, go to work, go exercise, go home, read for a few hours, watch a little tv, then I go to bed and start all over the next day. Don't be jealous!
2. I love The Office. I watch it way too much. Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of the night and watch an episode before I go back to sleep. It's a little crazy. Favorite quote from the last episode, "there isn't a lot of fruit in his looms". It was so funny.
3. I prefer hanging out with my family over just about anything.
4. I use to hate living at home with the parents but now I kinda love it and don't know if I ever want to leave. It is so convienant and free. Maybe you should all consider this option.
5. I wonder way too often when I became grownup enough to worry about the economy. It for real stresses me out. I wonder if the health program will be in the next budget cuts. Good thing I live at home.
6. I'm super content with my life right now. For a while I was stressings about dating, etc but I realize that I'm a lot happier when I don't care. So I've stopped worry about it and strangely enough I feel better about it. So to all of you who helped me to start caring about dating, lets not do that again. I don't like handling rejection, or the unsurity of things. So thanks but no thanks.

So maybe none of this was too random but I forwarned all of you that my life was boring. It's exactly the way it should be. I am planning on going to Europe next summer with two of my best friends Candice and Laura. Maybe after that I will have some interesting things to share with all of you.

Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey Writes:

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car.And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy\girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays.

I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Hannukah/Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.
These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.
Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for you. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you.
