To Do List

I have until December to get these things done but I'm going to have to start soon. Jana, Brent's mom, when the kids were little made an advent calendar. They would rotate each year who got to put the star on the top. It was a huge deal in their house.....and it kinda still is. I'm actually kind of excited for it to be my turn. I have another 3 years before it'll be my turn. My luck it'll be on an off year when we aren't visiting the Adamson's. Anyways, since it may be one of Brent's favorite Christmas traditions, I've decided I definitely want to do it with our family. I could just buy an advent calendar, it'd be way cuter and more than likely cheaper, but I've decided for it to be truly special I will make it. I've gathered my research and I think I'm ready to get started. It'll be different from Jana's but similar too. I want to involve the Christmas story in mine, since we aren't believing in Santa Claus. I sure hope that I can make this. If not I might have to hire someone with more talent to do it for me. Then claim to my future children that I did it. :)
The second thing on my list to make is Christmas stockings. This I know I could buy but I'd rather make them. I'm actually a little excited to make them. Stockings are one of my favorite parts of Christmas. And I want everyone's in our family to match. So, I plan on going ahead and making them. I'll at least make mine and Brent's and buy enough fabric that as the kiddos come I'll be able to use the same for theirs. They will be simple stockings but hopefully special and for sure made with love.
Then the last thing I would like to make, though no time soon because it'll be a long long time before we need it, is a baby blessing dress. My sister in law Amy still has her blessing dress and her daughters were able to be blessed in it too. Well, I want to make one for my girls to share (I'm confident I'll have at least one daughter....I hope.) And it can't hurt to be looking at patterns now. Really, I'd love for their blessing dress to look a lot like my wedding dress. I wonder if I can talk Candice in to recreating a baby one.
Anyways, wish me luck. I'm not sure when I'll find the time to do this. But it'll be good to get the first 2 done by this Christmas.
