The Jelly Belly Factory
We went to the beach and played one day. Loved it.This Christmas we decided to go to CA for Christmas. And it was lovely. I can't say it enough how lucky I am to have the Adamson's as my family now too. I'm sure they think I'm quirky, and maybe they don't always catch my sarcasm, but they are some of the most wonderful people.
Brent and I arrived super late on December 16th so Julie picked us up from the airport and let us stay the night with her. Thanks Julie! It was good seeing her and so nice of her to let us sleep in her bed, I was completely prepared to sleep on the couch. The next morning she headed off to jury duty and dad/Reed came and picked us up. I love him~I swear he has a twinkle in his eye. He took us to go see Grandma and Grandpa Adamson. It was so nice getting to meet them since they couldn't come to the wedding because of some health issues. They were so adorable and I felt at home instantly. Grandpa is quite the talker, he's the first Adamson man that I met that liked to talk. Grandma made us a delicious lunch. It was great! We couldn't stay too long because we were so anxious to get home and see everyone, AKA mom/Jana.
I just about instantly felt comfortable at the Adamson home. It truly felt no different than being at the Eaton's. It was so nice spending time with them and getting to know them a little better. I honestly think we spend the most time with dad/Reed. Which was great because I love love love this man.
Our open house was on December 21st and it awesome. It's so fun meeting all the people your husband grew up with and all those that have influenced him on his path. We got a lot of nice gifts, mostly gift cards because we were traveling (which we love the most anyways), the food was delish, the decor was so nice, and the company was awesome. The only thing I hate is how much it stressed mom/Jana out. But her hard work paid off and it was great.
The next morning Brent and I drove into San Fransisco to take a mini-honeymoon. We had so much fun. It was so nice spending this time together. We went to fisherman's wharf, ghiradelli square, we walked to the golden gate bridge, we went to the wax museum, we sat outside by the fire, we even went to the "Full House" house. We had so much fun just being together. The next day we drove to Napa Valley and stayed at the cutest bed and breakfast ever. We fell in love with it and hope to stay there again in the same room. We didn't do a ton in Napa. We ate, we toured a winery, we mostly just hung out in our room, just relaxing. On Christmas Eve we went to the Jelly Belly Factory. I had been once before when I was 16 and Brent had never been. We had so much fun and ate so much! We were in Jelly Belly heaven. We again had so much fun. We headed back home before it got to late so we could eat dinner with the family. They also have a tradition of singing Christmas carols. It was nice because they suggested we call my family and sing to them. Then they sang back to us. We loved it.
Christmas morning with the Adamson's was calm compared to the Eaton's, actually everything was calmer at the Adamson's compared to the Eaton's. The kids and dad/Reed all made breakfast. This is a tradition they have. This might be the only part that I felt like an intruder. But it wasn't too bad. Then they all took turns opening presents. Brent got me a star necklace, that I absolutely love and an Ipod Touch! He definitely should get a best husband reward. Then from the parents I got a beautiful necklace with 2 circles intertwined with a note about mine and Brent's lives intertwining into one (I am wearing the necklace today), another set to my nativity, some super cute clothes that my sister in laws picked out, our first Christmas ornament, and a calendar. There may have been more but this is what I remember. I got Brent some clothes that a wife would approve of :), a book comic book thing that he wanted, and a diploma frame for his BYU diploma. His parents got him the Back to the Future trilogy on BlueRay, a robe, a calendar, cuff links and other things that I have already forgotten. It was a great Christmas. It would have been just as great without the gifts but we were grateful for them. It was a wonderful way to spend our first Christmas together.
I'm still unsure if they all love me or not. I've decided sisters are way harder than parents to make love you. I'm sure his parent's love me. And I know that one day, his sisters and I will be good friends, I just have to convince them of that :).
