Why would I?

After talking to a friend on the phone who said he had no desire to get married, I was taken back. Who would not want to get married. That's just crazy. I thought about this a lot. While mowing the yard one day I decided to make a mental list of all the pros and cons so I could give them to him. I would prove to him that marriage is the ultimate goal. That it was desirable. So I thought a lot on why I would want to get married, besides the fact that it is an eternal principle. And crazily enough, I see my friends point a lot clearer now. My little "list" turned on me and I know see very few advantages to marriage.
I will list the advantages (besides the whole commandment thing):
1) I would have someone to father my children
2)Wouldn't have to worry who my roommate is.
Wow, that second one was a stretch. While my parents are still married and have been married for over 30 years, I do NOT want a marriage like theirs. And while I have brothers and sisters and friends who seem pretty happy being married, I just don't see why I would want this. Maybe we spend too much time dreaming about it as a kid so we automatically think we want it.
In the past, even 2 weeks ago, I would say security is a big reason. But I don't need someone else taking care of me. I worry a lot about my job security but I can go back to school and get another degree if I need to. Maybe people get married to get out of their parent's homes, I can move out anytime I want. I can always find another job. I can always change careers. I am in control of my future. And if I want stability, then I can have it. I don't need someone else's money.
So it is settled, I see no point in marriage. I have plenty of people in my life that fill any voids. And while I do want kids, I have my nieces and nephews. I have my friends kids. And if I ever feel a void in this area, I'll get a dog. I like this. I feel so refreshed.
I started a cleanse Sunday. I'm only eating whole foods, nothing processed or with preservatives. I'm cleansing. And maybe during the process I'll lose some weight. And if I do this time it's for me. Not because I feel like if I do whoever my current crush is will want to date me but I am doing it for ME.
And since I love to vacation I need to look better in my swimsuit. Sigh, life is HAPPY. All is right in the world today. Lie is good, life is happy, and life is beautiful and today I feel the same about me. I am good, I am happy, and I am beautiful.

Taking Risk

"To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.”

Love it and want to live by it. I'm not risk taker. And I'm not really sure that there are any risk out their for me to take right now. I am a planner. I need to know things ahead of time. Be able to have a plan, be prepared. I need to jump in and take more risk!

I'm learning to like vegetables

I haven't blogged in a while and thought I would give a quick update as to my life. I have registered for both Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2. I will be taking these classes this summer which pretty much means my summer is gonna suck. Oh well, I'm hoping I'll get in to nursing school starting January 2011. If I don't I will try again for the next year.
For the next 6-12 weeks I'm only eating whole foods. I'm trying not to eat anything with perservatives or additives. It's been about a week and a half and so far so good. Dad decided to do it with me. I'm glad he's doing it too. Being healthy is fun and hard.
I am a realitively healthy person. For the past few years I've been pretty health consciences. A few Mondays ago I went on a date with this really nice guy. His name is Sean. He was in town visiting from SLC and after talking at the branch he asked me out. I went and I had a pretty good time. There were things about him that I didn't like. 1st, he was very overweight, 2nd, he didn't have a college degree (he's a real estate agent), and 3rd, he was late picking me up. He had an excuse to be late, he got lost and he's not from the area so that is forgivable.
I never thought I cared too much about physical appearance and thought those who did are pretty shallow. But this time it did bother me. And I decided if I don't want to date certain types of people then I can't be that person.
So I like people with college degrees and I have one so I can check that off my list. I like chubby boys but not overly fat. So I need to get in better shape. I decided all this before I decided I actually never want to get married.
That is actually the main reason I am going back to nursing school. I'll post more on my anti-marriage stance later.
So then I wondered if I never want to marry then why am I trying to be healthier. I don't care who I attract any more. The answer is I am doing it for me and me alone. Since I've decided to stay single I'll be taking a lot of vacations. And I want to look food and feel good during all these. So that's my life currently. Forcing myself to eat things I don't like. In the process learning that most aren't all that bad.

Time Out for Woman

Time of for Woman was a dose of the right medicine! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The speakers spoke to my heart and soul. I am a better person for it. I had been somewhat "down" the past month or so and this lifted my spirit. The theme was Infinite Hope and it actually made me feel hopeful. Imagine that. I left with a renewed love of not only my Savior but of myself. I knew that I could keep living this life. That I could be happy for the rest of my life if I choose to be.
I heard woman speak who were righteous and had righteous desires that have been unfulfilled but they are steadily marching on. They were still happy, still conquering, still loving.
I'm super glad I had the chance to go with my mom and sister. I bought this amazing book that I have so loved. It's called MEE Speaks by Mary Ellen Edmunds (she's one of my heroes) and Renee had her sign it for me on the chapter titled, On Being Single. She wrote, Sandra, Hang in there, He loves you. It's true. He does love me!
In my testimony Sunday I said something I've been thinking about. I said, "The question isn't how much He loves me but how much I love him." How am I showing that love? One of the speakers mentioned praying for the spirit to guide her daily and for her to recognize it. I've decided I will include that in my prayers as well as praying for charity. I want to have charity so that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. So I can be with my family for eternity. And charity is the way to have it. I've got to trust in my Heavenly Father to make me complete. I will live by Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart' and lean not unto thine own understanding."

Disney World Rocked my Socks

So Disney was absolutely wonderful! I had fun just about every minute of my trip. I enjoyed the park and the company! I went with my mom, Renee and her family and James and his family. I've never been to Disney World with kids before and now I don't know if I ever want to go back unless I do have kids with me. We left Sunday night and arrived Monday day. We went grocery shopping, checked into the hotel, then took nice long naps. That night we walked around Downtown Disney and had dinner. The next morning we went to Magic Kingdom. Jake, Ginny, Aubree, mom, and I stayed until 12:30 that night. The girls rode their first roller coaster, Space Mountain. Nothing too intense but still awesome. We loved it! Even with a late night, we still got up the next morning ready to go to the Animal Kindgom. This is where we saw the most characters. Jake, Ginny, Aubree, James and I rode Expedition Everest. My nieces are so brave. We had lots of fun. We went to all the shows that day. They were amazing. At this point I started thinking about turning in my work ID and getting a job a Disney. Maybe not a good idea but it did go through my head more than once. Thursday we all, excluding James, Kara and Elle, headed back to the Magic Kindgom for some more fun. We rode just about everything. We left, went and got James and his family and went to eat. After dinner. Everyone, except mom, Renee', and Will, headed back to the park. We rode more rides, watched the parade and fireworks, we had so much fun. There is nothing better than seeing how excited kids are and how much they love to pretend and make believe. It's so incredible. Another successful day! Friday we slept in, caught a breakfast buffet and headed over to Hollywood Studios. And you might have guessed it, Ginny, Aubree, Jake, James, and I rode the tower of terror! The girls were so scared but both wanted to go again. I think it's a little easier to go when you know what you can expect. We went to ride the Rock N Roller coaster but Aubree was an inch to short, much to her disappointment. So Jake stayed with her and Ginny and I went. Ginny was so nervous because this one actually went upside down. I thought she might back out. Once we were on it I made sure I had my hand on her leg the whole time. We both enjoyed it so much we went back, got Jake, and the 3 of us went again. Amazing. Also amazing, Toy Story Mania. And more amazingness happened when we watched Fantasmic. Oh my goodness.
When we got back to the hotel James was ready to head back to TN so we, James, his family, mom and I packed up and hit the road. Where I dreamed about my prince coming, and all my dreams coming true. Absolutely, hands down, an amazing trip with amazing people.
