My office is based in an Elementary School. With this being said there are lots of funny things you hear kids say.
Today, as I was walking out of the restroom one of the PreK kids said, "Ms. Sandra, Ms. Sandra, So and So was looking under the door in the bathroom and saw my properties." "He saw your what?" "My properties!"
On another occasion I was using one of the stalls in the restroom. There is one designated just for adults. I see someone peaking in at me. Then she proceeds to try to talk to me, "Hey Ms. Sandra, blah blah blah." I tell her she needs to stop peaking in. This happens periodically since my office is on the PreK and Kindergarten hall. These kids know no boundaries. I hear some pretty interesting things in those restrooms.
Tuesday was Ginny's birthday and I called to wish her a happy birthday. I asked her how her day was going only to be informed that she wasn't having a happy birthday. What?!?!? Why? Aubree had broken her favorite necklace, her teacher had not been nice, etc. When talking to Ginny she loves to talk about boys, so I asked if there were any new cute boys in her class. She informed me that she can't have a boyfriend because she's not old enough. I told her I wasn't old enough either. She told me yes I was. I told her you had to be like 30 or something to have a boyfriend. She then sternly told me that her mother was married in her 20's and that I was in my 20's but getting close to my 30's. Where did that come from? She then proceeded to tell me that all I have to do is find a boy and tell them how I feel. I love how simple life is to a 7 year old. It is good advice though.
Seth says some really funny stuff on the way to and from school. One day I was taking both him and his friend Hayes home. They were talking about what is good and bad for your bodies (guess you can tell I have somewhat of an influence). They were talking about different drinks. Seth said alcohol is bad for you. Hayes said why, and Seth told him because it had too much sugar in it. They also said the reason skunks stink is because they eat stinky smelly green stuff. I love the logic behind this.
Also, one day last week I was at Michael and Amy's while they were having scripture and prayer. They were reading about how contention is of the devil. Then they talked about what this meant. Sydney was having an especially hard night that night and was throwing a fit in her room. Seth came out and told Michael that he felt bad for Sydney. Why? Because if she keeps acting like this she will have to live with the devil.

My Bucket List
Charity did this a while back and I have been thinking about things that I want to do before I die. So I thought it would be fun to start my very own bucket list.
My Bucket List as of Today:
1. Kiss someone while riding a Ferris Wheel. I don't know why because I hate Ferris Wheels.
2. Ride on an Elephant. When I was younger I went to the circus and really wanted to do this. Now, it's a goal.
3. Ride a gondola in Venice. I really want to go to Italy.
4. Own a home. It surprises me how exciting this actually is to me.
5. Visit the top 5 scariest places in America. Weird, yes! But exciting. I don't get scared easily so this would be a fun one.
6. Can you say "WHEEL OF FURTUNE". I know that I would be one of the contestants that would freeze up but it does sound exciting. What if I made it to the bonus round.
7. Make a geyser with Mentos and Diet Coke. I saw it on YouTube and I have a strong desire to recreate it for some strange reason.
8. Visit Hawaii.
9. Get married and have children. I debated on whether to write this one but it is something I am hoping to do before I die.
10. Watch Fireworks over water. I love fireworks and I love water. I am imagining lying on a beach somewhere, drink in hand, cute man beside me, fireworks over head. Sounds nice. Now I need a beach, some fireworks, a cute man and I can get this done!
11. Learn to say what I feel when I am feeling it. They say to put at least one thing on your bucket list that may be impossible and this is mine.
12. Visit a Psychic. I wonder what they would say to me.
13. Visit Costa Rica. It looks so beautiful.
14. Become a nun. Just kidding, I wanted to see if you were still reading.
15. Go to a BYU/UTAH game. I don't know why I didn't do this when I was in Utah.
16. Do a pioneer trek. They didn't do them when I was young and I am feeling a little gyped.
17. Visit Niagara Falls. I have always had some weird obsession with waterfalls.
18. Take a cake decorating class. I'm not saying I want to make cakes but I think the class would be interesting enough.
19. Make mom's chicken and dressing. I have watched so many times but to do it all myself. That would an accomplishment. Maybe this Thanksgiving.
20. Travel through Europe.

Limited Visibility
On my way to work yesterday it was quite foggy outside. You really couldn't see very far in front of you at all. Usually I would be somewhat annoyed by this because it slows me down a bit. But today, I didn't mind it all. It was nice and it made me drive more carefully. I began to think how life is a lot like my drive to work yesterday morning. Every day of life we have limited visibility. But we have to keep on going. We possibly know the road we are traveling on but we don't know what is hiding in the fog. It just got me to thinking.
My favorite Candice Post
I was just rereading my favorite post from Candice's blog and with her permission I decided to share part of it with you. Most of you are all married so you may or may not remember feeling this way but I always enjoy this post.
Dating causes emotional trauma to those that dare take the risk, and too much dating and disappointment can lead to confusion, anxiety, and loneliness. For some reason we tend to confuse our dating status with our worth as human beings. That's the one thing everyone wants to know about when you're single. And for some reason your life is supposed to start when you get married, but does that mean that I've just been living an imaginary or unfulfilled life these past 27 years? Not that it should be that way, but everyone around us tells us it is. People feel sorry for us single people when we are not dating and are happy and proud when we are dating. As if being single is a disability that we consciously choose for ourselves. Questions like "why aren't you dating anyone?" lead me to believe that dating is a simple choice we make like choosing to wear shoes and that if you aren't then something must be wrong with you. But as we all know, dating is not as simple as choosing a pair of shoes, because shoes don't have a mind of their own. Furthermore, if you do date someone or are in the process of dating someone, you are offered advice, both solicited and unsolicited, as to how to make it work. And when it doesn't work out despite your best effort even when you have liked it to, does that mean you did something wrong? Does that mean you aren't "good enough"? Does that mean that there is something inherently wrong with you? But really it just means that we haven't met the right person, right? But wait I thought that there is no "right" person! And if there were a right person, why would we need advice on what to do and say this right person to facilitate a relationship? We are taught that we are not to be alone, that we need companionship. And to a degree, we feel that innately. But what happens, when no one wants your companionship, does that make you unlovable? And I'm not even talking about marriage here, I'm just talking about dating! If we step outside the LDS world of focus on marriage, the rest of the world is still focused on relationships and companionship, even if it doesn't lead to marriage. For example, I went to a Christmas party for Law and Order cast and crew on Saturday night. It seemed as if everyone brought a date, everyone! I guess I'm so used to going to parties with all single people, I was surprised by how lonely I felt at that party.I can also look at it from the angle of being in a relationship where you are the one that isn't into the other person. And it's not like I feel that there is something wrong with him or that he's not good enough, but just that I don't feel like there is enough of a connection. But I don't pretend like there is a connection and then just stop calling or talking to him. And herein lies the difference between men and women. When I break off a dating relationship, no matter how far into it we have gotten, I always make sure that it's a clean break and that I am honest about my feelings. But there have been many times where I have been left unsatisfied with the ending a relationship when the guy doesn't make a point to extend that courtesy. So when he just stops calling, you are left wondering and waiting and ultimately disappointed and feeling as though you are at fault, even though he is the jackass. And what if anything are we supposed to learn from all this dating? All these different guys? I already know what I want and what I'm willing to live with or without. So what now? Just wait for the "right guy" to come along? Or should I be actively looking for the "right guy"? Have I grown from any of these dating experiences this year or have I just become more confused? So with all this confusion, the conflicting messages from society at large and the LDS community, the inability to understand the male species and the general lack of meaningful connections between the sexes, its no wonder that the plight of the single lady is so utterly ridiculous! So if anyone has thoughts or opinions or answers to these unending questions, I welcome all comments. I obviously have no answers! With that said, it's plain to see my frustration with dating.

Tennessee
When I think about living here in TN I have lots of mixed emotions. As many of you know I never planned on staying here for very long, sorry mom and dad, but I have been here 2 years now. Upon finishing graduate school I knew that I needed to find a job and decided to move back in with my parents while looking for one. I packed up my apartment and made the 24 hour drive to TN. Actually I made the drive in my car before Christmas with one load of things. Then mom and I made the trip back out West to finish getting a few of my things and to be there for my sweet Elle to be born. But that is not the point of this blog. I get distracted so easily.
When looking for jobs I applied to a lot of places outside of TN. Actually, every resume' sent out was for out of state. But then my Papaw called and said he heard of an opening in Jackson at Le Bonheur. I had only been looking for a job for about a week or two so I decided why not apply. I did and I got the job. I wasn't sure if I wanted to take it but I did. Because I knew at that time I was suppose to be here in TN. I wouldn't let myself fall in love with living here though. But now I've learned to love it again. I love being close to my family. I love my job, most days. I love the friends I have made here.
I just think it's strange how sometimes in life we are suppose to be somewhere and we may not know why and may never find out. On more than one occassion I have considered moving but each time I have felt the need to stay here. I have become happy with being here. Since I've moved here Mike, Amy, James, Kara, and their families have moved here. It makes me so happy to live close to all my neices and nephews. I love hanging out with them and talking to them. They are the silliest group of kids ever and they remind me daily how life is suppose to be enjoyed.
Last week when it snowed here in TN it made me miss Utah. I really did love living there. I had a lot of fun while there and there was also a lot of personal growth. I loved Weber State and I loved the University of Utah. I have so many fond memories of living there. Anyways, whatever. I was just missing it a little bit. But I LOVE TN. It's so great this time of the year. The trees are blooming, buttercups are everywhere. It's beautiful. I guess there are things I love about everywhere I have lived. I am planning on taking a trip to Utah this July. This will more than likely give me a fill on Utah then I can return and be good for a while.
